about

Johnny Ford is a rare breed in modern show business. He is a uniquely skilled musician who varied repertoire provides countless hours of audience enjoyment.

Classical, jazz, and popular music flow as if the banjo were bewitched, leaving Ford’s audience quickly spellbound.

Starting in show business as the age of 13, Ford has worked steadily in clubs, television, recording studios, special appearances, benefits, and tours as well as schools and colleges.

Johnny Ford appeared with Flint Symphony Orchestra as a guest soloist, played before the President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, and shared the spotlight with Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton. He has guested with Jerry Lewis, Soupy Sales, Nipsy Russel, and David Fry.

Johnny Ford is especially proud of being Artist in Residence at Flint Institute of Music as well as being an instructor there.

The Philadelphia Daily News summed Johnny Ford up by simply saying, “Johnny Ford is the greatest banjo player in the whole world.”

And his fans at the Fish Market Restaurant in Old Town, Alexandria, Virgina, agree.
