about

Not all the world knows Johnny Ford.

Those who do call him a legend in his own time. Those who know Johnny Ford find the man as interesting as his music. On stage he exudes friendship, fun and good times. Off stage he doesn’t change. He’s warm and involved in you. Charisma, That’s why Johnny “owns” the audience at every show.

Johnny Ford.

Maybe he’s a legend in his own time.

Wherever he plays he is the pied piper who attracts followers. Loyal fans (and friends) who want to know Johnny Ford is in town.

If it’s true that an artist has to know adversity and tragedy to reach his potential, Johnny’s been there. In 1974, his rising career was thwarted by a brain tumor and subsequent surgery that left his left side paralyzed. For 18 months he fought to regain the skills that made his star shine. Slowly his perseverance and will brought back the lightning that flashed from his banjo. His fans were waiting and they cheered him on. From Miami to Washington, Michigan to Texas, the crowds were there to hear this dedicated musician make magic from four strings. Then in 1982 he was stricken again. More neuro-surgery, more recuperation, more relearning, only this time the flying fingers took wings. He’s playing faster, easier and better than ever with a grateful heart that puts sincere feeling into every ballad.

At a recent performance one of the enthusiasts in the crowd asked Johnny if he’d mind if brought his recording gear in. Flashing that big grin of his, Johnny said, “Sure bring it in…and I’d like to hear what you get.”

Well, this is it!

It’s rare for a recording to capture the ambience as well as the music.

This one did. You may’ve one of Johnny Ford’s previous albums, all done in studios, but this time you go right to “the club,” hear the banjo artistry and feel the warmth of personality behind the strings.

Yes, Johnny Ford’s back!

He’s alive and well…again!
